BerryTunes Instructions:

BerryTunes does not come with your BlackBerry and must be downloaded into your phone.

You can do this from the phone, itself, or download the application to a Windows-based computer, then use the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software to install it.

You can get the software by clicking here.  Be sure to use the free trial before purchasing it.

Once the software is installed, from the BlackBerry desktop, open the Downloads folder, select then click the BerryTunes application.

BerryTunes will present an initial menu, which we will ignore.

Press the BlackBerry button, then select and click the Radio entry.

A list of categories will appear, starting with Favorites.

Select, then click Favorites to expand the menu.  Now, it's time to add a station.

Press the BlackBerry button, then select and click Add Station.  BerryTunes will pop-up a dialog where you can specify (type-in) the name of your station, and the address to that station's stream.

You can name the stations anything you want, but we chose to be very specific on ours.

You'll type-in your station's name, then touch the next line with your finger so that you can type there, using the following information:

Name

Internet Address (URL)
Cool Oldies
http://sro-streaming.net:4211
Wave 1049 Online
http://sro-streaming.net:4201
The Bridge
http://sro-streaming.net:4221

Note that the 'http://' part of the Internet address is already entered onto the line, so you don't want to type that part.  Just start typing 'sro-streaming.net:' part from the table, above.  After you've finished typing, the Internet-address line needs to be exactly what you see in the table, above, with no duplications or omissions of any characters.  If the entry is not 100% correct, the entry will fail.

The Name entry can be anything you want, as long as you can recognize it, but the URL entry has to be perfect.

If you need to edit a station entry, simply select it in the list, then press the BlackBerry button, then select and click Edit Station, which will allow you to make any changes or corrections to the entry.

Once the information has been correctly keyed-in, click the OK button to commit the entry and dismiss the menu.

Now, all you have to do is select, then click the entry for the station to begin listening!

Repeat the process for any additional stations you would like to add.

Once any station is in the list, you can just click it to listen!

Be sure to use your car charger, USB cable, or wall charger, as the case may be, while listening or you'll use-up your battery within a couple of hours or so.

To stop listening, press the BlackBerry button, then select and click the Stop entry.

To close the Radio within BerryTunes, press the BlackBerry button again, then scroll down to the bottom of the list, select then click Close.  A confirmation dialog will pop-up, on which select and click Yes.

To close BerryTunes, press the BlackBerry button, scroll down to the bottom of the list, select then click Close, then select and click Yes on the resulting confirmation dialog.

The links listed above should work very well with your BlackBerry, but if you'd like to use MP3 streams instead, you may click here for the full streams list (most people won't need to do this).

Our experience is that BerryTunes does not work with Microsoft-encoded streams.  Fortunately, we don't use any of those, but if there is a Microsoft-encoded stream that you'd like to receive on your cellphone, you'll want to contact the owner of that stream and ask them to consider adding a more phone-phriendly technology for delivery of their content.
